The World of Art
The Art World has been in something of an existential turmoil for much longer than any of us still capable of scribbling on canvas have been alive. It sometimes seems that university art departments are so confused and lost that they’ve been found wandering around in sociology and humanities. The reason that nobody really understands Art Speak is because it’s not using words from its own dictionary.
Distinct from this exclusive and completely bonkers subset of humanity is what I like to refer to as The World of Art, and it is a big, inclusive and wildly rich landscape of human talent where skill, love for the craft, hard work and other deeply artisanal values are held up irrespective of hedge fund performance indices and market performance.
